PSNI officers seize drugs after tip-off from English colleagues
POLICE have seized suspected heroin that was packed inside an adapted Red Bull can.
PSNI officers in Craigavon were tipped off by colleagues in England who had been questioning a man from Northern Ireland.
Officers were directed to an address in Co Armagh and a search revealed the energy drinks can packed with drugs.
It had been adapted to include a removable lid and police also recovered drugs paraphernalia including bags and scales.
A spokesman said: “We had an interesting phone call from our colleagues in England earlier.
“It turns out that they had come across one of our locals and after a quick chat, it became clear we should probably go and have a search of his place over here.
“Inspector Mills and Chief Inspector Burrows rushed to the scene to secure it and awaited arrival of search teams.
“We had extra Op Snapper crews on tonight, so the search team we took was the Graphites TSG.
“They’re like the district hide and seek champions, so duly set about ‘seeking’ what someone had tried to hide.”
Officers uncovered the Red Bull can stuffed with suspected heroin at the address.
A spokesman said: “This stuff certainly wouldn’t give you wings.
“It’s an adapted can, but as you can see when you screw the top off, there was a significant quantity of suspected class A inside it. They found a load of bags and scales too.
“Once he gets back from England, he can if he’s sensible, come into the station for a chat about this stuff.
“Whilst this one may have been down to good police work, more often than not it starts with intelligence from the community.
“This week we’ve had yet more drugs related deaths in our district, and we’re determined to take this poison off our streets.”
