I’m a Strictly widower now ...Ruth’s not around to get me my dinner

Eamonn fending for himself as wife trains

EAMONN Holmes claims he has become a “Strictly widower” and worries about who will make his dinner now wife Ruth Langsford is devoting so much time to the BBC show.

The This Morning presenter,

57, is facing up to life without his other half for the next few months as she fits in training sessions with the rest of her television commitments.

But he said: “I am very proud of her. She is not someone to push herself forward. She is just one of those unsung heroes.

“I just hope she enjoys it. I don’t care if she goes out in the first round. I texted her tonight and said, ‘Just enjoy it.’ I think Strictly is good for people who are resting between jobs but Ruth has got four jobs at the minute so it is going to be difficult.”

With a cheeky grin, he joked that having nobody to cook his meals “was an issue”. He added: “She is a domestic goddess and runs the whole house.

“She does everything and when she is not there, well it is going to be baked beans every night. It will probably be takeaways and they will go out into the bin before she gets home.” Eamonn also insisted he was supporting Ruth in her bid to win the Glitterball trophy. He added: “I am very good at running her a bath. You know like Rocky, with the trainer with the towel around his neck? “Everything is on a back burner for me now. She did call me at 5am to the bathroom to apply some lotion to her back. “I think it was the moisturiser after the fake tan. “I just go along with it. I am just a Strictly widower.

“But the show is not for me. I wouldn’t do any of the reality shows. The bookmakers have made her 66/1 but I think they may eat their words.” Eamonn also vowed that he and Ruth, 57, will survive the Strictly curse, saying: “Whatever the Strictly curse is, bring it on.” Ruth will learn who her partner is at a Strictly launch show this Saturday. The competition starts on September 23.

Other contestants include Eastenders actor Davood Ghadami, pop star Mollie King and comedian Brian Conley.
