Belfast ready to clean up its act
Scheme to keep city centre premises spick and span
BELFAST is to get a good scrub thanks to a new initiative aimed at improving the city centre.
A cleaning contractor will ensure business premises will be kept in top condition.
Broken glass, fast food wrappers, cigarette butts, dangerous and unsanitary waste are just a few examples of the mess that can be encountered every morning.
Belfast One chief Bronagh Lawlor said: “The aim of this project is to improve the experience of visitors in our capital city by maintaining a high level of cleanliness.” She said the initiative will be in addition to the service already delivered by Belfast City Council.
Under the new scheme Mcquillan Companies will perform a range of external cleaning services four days a week before premises open.
The firm’s Gavin Mcquillan said: “We are looking forward to partnering with
Belfast One and all the businesses in the area. They have a daily task of not only operating in a highly commercial environment but, like

any city, they also have to deal with external threats to their premises in the form of litter and graffiti.
“Our cleansing team will help to save them time, staff resource and money.”
Belfast One is also working in partnership with the Welcome Organisation with the cleansing team providing another link between the charity and rough sleepers who they assist daily.
