Right Stef as Fulham break duck

Fulham 2 Hull 1

-

STEFAN JOHANSEN struck a second-half winner as Fulham finally won at Craven Cottage for the first time this season.

Last season’s beaten play-off semi-finalists have struggled on their home turf and should have won this encounter at a canter.

They were much the better side against a Hull team still reeling from last week’s 5-0 hammering at Derby. But still, victory moves Fulham up to 13th.

They wasted chances early on including a closerange effort from Floyd Ayite that was somehow kept out by Hull goalkeeper Allan Mcgregor.

But Ayite finally eased nerves that were creeping into the hosts’ play when he converted his first of the season from close range following Sheyi Ojo’s inchperfect cross.

Ryan Sessegnon should have put Fulham two-up within moments of the restart as he headed wide from Ayite’s cross.

And the visitors punished him as Jarrod Bowen headed home at the second attempt for his fifth of the campaign on 53 minutes.

However, Slavisa Jokanovic’s side were not to be denied a just win.

Ayite may have missed out with a spectacular 62nd-minute bicycle kick from Ryan Fredericks’ cross, but Johansen was on hand to tuck home the loose ball via the bar.

Defeat is the fourth in seven for Leonid Slutsky’s men and second in a row to make for worrying times on Humberside.
