JESS GREAT

Listed double - & more - for in-form Harrington

- BY PETER O’HEHIR

JESSICA Harrington struck in Ireland and England yesterday to complete a memorable day for the trainer.

Brick By Brick made all to land the Ballyhane Blenheim Stakes at Fairyhouse before Beautiful Morning completed the brilliant listed double in the the John Musker Stakes at Yarmouth.

Brick By Brick dictated the pace in the rain-softened ground and kept odds-on favourite Gobi Desert at bay by two and three-quarter lengths.

Winning trainer Harrington said: “We held onto him the last day, when he had a big weight in a nursery, but I don’t think he liked it.

“Today, Shane just let him flow and he loved it. I was a bit worried about the ground and nearly withdrew him.”

Nearly Famous completed a Fairyhouse double for the Harrington and Foley in the claimer.

Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning also completed a double with top-weight Solar Wave, now bound for the Birdcatcher at Naas, in the six-furlong nursery and the long absent filly Focus On Heaven in the six-furlong maiden.

Meanwhile Ballinrobe stages its last meeting of 2017 this afternoon, an eight-race jumps card, which will see Nina Carberry return to action for the first time since November, following the birth of her daughter Rosie.

And Noel Meade’s Net D’ecosse, consistent this summer, is a hopeful nap choice in the Eamon Sheridan Groundworks Chase.

This seven-year-old registered his only success over fences at Punchestown back in December 2015.

But he boasts solid, placed form this year, including a second to Sandymount Duke at Down Royal in June.

Joint top-rated in today’s test, he must concede 5lb. to Jimmy Two Times, which also boasts a rating of 130. And, with Adam Short claiming a valuable 7lb. Meade’s charge might have the edge.

Another 7lb. claimer, in-form Donie Mcinerney might be on the mark again on board John Kiely’s top-weight Just Janice in the featured John Mulhern Mares Handicap Hurdle.

Sixth to Lasoscar in Killarney and fifth to Miss Eyecatcher at Galway this five-year-old chased home the classy Mystic Theatre at Kilbeggan in between and has obvious claims here.
