What will you never cook again?

I don’t want to see choux pastry ever again. I still wake up sometimes thinking about my flat eclairs.

What were your best and worst comments?

The worst was when Grace Dent said she wouldn’t feed my shiitake mushrooms to her dog. But they were super complimentary about my ganache tart, even though it hadn’t set.

How will your life change afterwards?

Some things come down to luck but getting into the final of Masterchef, I don’t feel like I’ve blagged it. I worked really hard and got results. And moving on I’ll apply that same mindset to other things.

Why should you win?

It’s probably the first thing I’ve ever taken seriously in my whole life.

Was it stressful?

That first batch of filming wasn’t enjoyable. I

wouldn’t say I’d loved the whole thing. I ended up loving it but to begin with it was a horrible, horrible experience.

If your life was a dish what would it be?

A bowl of Lucky Charms.

Food or sex?

Depends who’s doing both.

Strangest thing ever eaten?

Boiled tree root in Tokyo.

Would you do other reality shows?

I couldn’t do the jungle, I like my comforts too much. I don’t think I’d be able to display a nice side of myself for long.
