NO PANIC STATIONS AT CRUES

- DARREN FULLERTON

CRUSADERS boss Stephen Baxter insists he won’t be pressing the panic button eight games into the season.

The Seaview men dropped home points for the second Saturday on the bounce thanks to their weekend draw with Dungannon.

Jordan Owens(right) fired the Crues into a 71st minute lead, only for Chris Hegarty to head the visitors level with his third goal in three games.

An uninspiring share of the spoils wasn’t what Baxter had been hoping for seven days after being held scoreless by Ards.

That impressive 2-1 win over Linfield 13 days ago suddenly seems like a long time ago now.

Baxter, whose post match dressing room inquest lasted all of 40 minutes, said: “It will turn for us and when it does, somebody’s going to get a pasting.

“Our football and pressure tells you that. We have drawn two games of football and it is what it is. “Because of the standards we’ve set in recent seasons people think this is a major shock, but Dungannon are a good side and I don’t want it to sound as if it’s a Crusaders failure. “We’re just not getting the rhythm of what our game sometimes deserves. We have to keep searching for that.”

Swifts boss Rodney Mcaree was full of praise for his players who have taken 10 points from their last five league outings.

He said: “Our discipline and desire to get something from the game was evident and to a man we stood up and got our rewards.”
