BAXTER: WE RELISH GAMES LIKE THIS

- BY DARREN FULLERTON

STEPHEN Baxter accepts there’ll be no hiding place as Crusaders bid to avoid treble trouble in tonight’s Sky Sports showdown with Glentoran at The

Oval (7.45pm).

The Seaview men travel to East Belfast on the back of two frustrating Danske Bank Premiership draws with Ards (0-0) and Dungannon Swifts (1-1).

You have to go back more that three years – March 2014 – to find the last time the Crues went three league games without a win.

Baxter is eager to avoid turning the clock back and is confident his players will relish the prospect of offering up a response in front of a TV audience.

“I think it’s a great game for us and the players will rise to the challenge,” he said. “It’s a massive game against a Glentoran side who have started the season very well and it’s also on Sky.

“Everyone looks forward to these games and we are no different. We maybe haven’t found our rhythm the way we’d like in recent games, so it’s important there is a response.”

On dropping four home points, Baxter added: “There is always a sense of frustration, but nobody should be shocked when teams drop points in this league.

“It’s two games of football so I’m not going to get too het up about it. You also have to tip your hat to Ards and Dungannon. Our focus now turns to Glentoran on Monday night.”

The Glens have lost just one of their 10 games in all competitions.
