COAL TURN UP THE HEAT ON SORRY ROVERS

AMBITIOUS Ambassadors have a plan for the long-term – and it starts on Saturday.

The Portadown side have earmarked the Junior Cup as a competition which can bring the feel-good factor back to the club.

And new boss Keith Wilkinson is intent on using their second round tie with St Teresa’s as a springboard to improved fortunes for the remainder of the campaign.

The former Annagh United chief has taken the reigns alongside the vastly-experienced Dessie Edgar.

The Clendinning Park side have struggled in Midulster Division One so far this term, with just one win to show for their six games.

But the Junior Cup offers them a chance to put that form out of their system.

St Teresa’s have picked up just one win from their opening four games in 2B of the Amateur League.

They were given a bye in the opening round of this season’s Junior Cup and are hoping to improve on their second round exit from last season.

And club stalwart Stuart Glass has revealed excitement is building for their next fixture.

He told Match on Tuesday: “The Junior Cup is a big competition and one we’d love to do well in.

“The furthest we’ve got in it as a club is the third round so if we can win on Saturday it will match that.

“One of the boys in our side is from West Belfast so he’s familiar with St Teresa’s and we’re expecting a tough game.

“We don’t have any history with them, we’ve never played each other, so it’s really all on the day.

“We need to try and play our own game and focus on playing as we know we can.

“It’s also a break from the league and hopefully that will give us the chance to get the result which would get us going again.

“We’re looking for a bit of momentum and this Saturday is as good as any to try and get it from. Hill Street did an excellent job last season representing Midulster and that shows what is possible.

“If we can get through a few rounds it would build a great buzz about the club and hopefully help us kick-start things in the league as well.”

Heading up Ambassadors’ ambitions this season is the
