Tory: Homes are not asset for OAPS’ kids

- BY ANDREW GREGORY

THE Tories’ social care minister has that said pensioners’ shouldn’t see their homes as an asset to pass on to their children.

Jackie Doyle-price said: “The taxpayer shouldn’t be propping up people to keep their property and hand it on to their children, when they’re generating massive care needs.”

“People feel they are the custodian of an asset to give to their offspring.”

The Mirror has obtained a recording of Ms Doyleprice speaking at a fringe event at the Tory party conference this month.

She has sparked fears the Tories will again try to introduce a dementia tax.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said: “It is appalling that the Tories still want to force older people to pay for care with their homes.”
