‘Touch trial’ man jailed for drinking
THE man facing a trial for touching in a Dubai bar has been sentenced to a month in jail for boozing.
Jamie Harron, 27, was also fined the equivalent of £410 after being convicted of drinking in the emirate.
It is understood his lawyers have appealed against the sentence and that he is still out on bail.
Tourists who drink at Dubai’s licensed venues can be arrested for having alcohol in their system.
He could be jailed for three years for public indecency over touching a businessman’s hip in July.
Jamie denies the charge, saying he put his hand on the man in the bar so they did not bump into each other. Jamie, from Stirling, said: “I never knew how much stress I could endure until this happened.”
