Blind granny killed by drug for neighbour
A BLIND grandmother died after morphine was delivered to her instead of a neighbour with almost the same name.
Christina Ann Fletcher, 58, took an overdose of the drug meant for Ann Fletcher, a patient at the same chemist who lived just four doors away.
A delivery driver did not ask Christina to confirm her name and address or to sign for her prescription, an inquest in Heywood, Gtr Manchester, heard.
Staff at the Internet Pharmacy only realised their mistake a week later.
Christina’s son, Ian, said he did not blame driver Andrew Watkins. He said: “My concern is regarding the pharmacy and how drugs are managed. Lessons should be learnt.”
The inquest continues.
