SCHOOLBOY’S ‘BULLYING HELL’

- SHAUNA CORR

A DAD said he has removed his children from their school after two attacks on his son in the past week.

Craig took his son, 12, and 13-yearold daughter from Glengormley High after a meeting on Tuesday to discuss bullying he claims his boy has been suffering since last year.

The worried father shared a video of his child being attacked on the ground, surrounded by a crowd of other youngsters in school uniform.

He feels that nothing has been done following his complaints and has called on the principal to deal with the problem after his son was left black and blue by the two attacks.

The first – which was caught on video – took place at lunchtime on Friday and the second on Tuesday.

Craig, from Newtonabbey, Co Antrim, said both attacks were carried out on school premises.

He added: “His ear is pure black, under his eye is black and underneath his chin is all bruising.

“He was attacked last year on the bus by the same wee lad. I contacted the school but they said there was nothing they could do because it was on the bus.

“That video happened on Friday at lunchtime in the school.

“My wee girl came into me and said somebody hit him. I hadn’t seen the video at this point and then the video came out.

“I went to see the school at 3.50pm was told was nothing could be done until Monday when the two of them were in school.

“I went back to the school on Monday morning and was told the wee lad was being put in a nurture centre for about a week and asked, ‘Was I happy about that?’

“I said yes and I was willing to give the wee boy a bye-ball and was dropping it with the police.”

But that wasn’t the end of it. Craig said his son was attacked again.

He added: “On Tuesday I got a call to say that my son was attacked in the corridor.”

When he took his children out of school on Tuesday no one said “this wee boy’s gonna get this” or “this wee boys gonna get that”.

Craig added the boy behind the attacks on his son is still at school, while his “two kids are out of the school and are getting no education whatsoever at the minute”. But he said since removing them from class on Tuesday, he still hadn’t heard from
