SINGLE, BUT NO ONE NOTICES ME

-

Dear Coleen

I’m sick of being single. All my family and a couple of my mates have partners, but I don’t.

I feel lonely, but don’t know where I’m going wrong. I go out in town. I dress up and put on make-up to look nice – well, I try to look nice – but no one ever seems to notice.

Any ideas?

Coleen says

I’m sure you do look very nice, but it’s not just about that. You might be sitting in a bar with your friends looking absolutely lovely, but if you’re not talking to anyone and seem unapproachable, then people won’t talk to you.

Stop going out looking for it and just have fun with your mates because the most attractive thing of all is someone who is confident in themselves.

The truth is, you’ll probably getting chatting to some great guy in Tesco or Starbucks on a day you’re looking absolutely rubbish and have made no effort at all.

Also, you shouldn’t be comparing yourself to others – that just feeds insecurity.

Remember people tend to show their best selves, especially on social media, so you’re not getting the real story – everyone has their problems and hang ups. And if only a couple of your friends have partners, then that means the rest are single like you, so go out with them and enjoy yourself.
