Michael’s heroes in 2nd tier

NORTHERN IRELAND have been confirmed in the second division for the new UEFA Nations League.

The competition will replace most friendlies in a huge shake-up, kicking off next September, and run alongside qualifying for Euro 2020. The 55 UEFA nations have been split into four leagues – A to D – based on their rankings.

Michael O’neill’s men are one of 12 teams in League B, alongside the Republic of Ireland and Wales, while England are in the 12-nation first tier.
