Ben Affleck: Sorry for my grope on TV
BEN Affleck has apologised for groping an actress – as he was accused of failing to speak out sooner about Weinstein.
One Tree Hill star Hilarie Burton, 35, claimed she was 21 when the actor fondled her as she hosted an MTV show in 2003. A clip shows Affleck with his arm around her back before she yelps. Burton tweeted: “I didn’t forget. I was a kid.”
Last night Affleck, 45, said: “I acted inappropriately toward Ms Burton and I sincerely apologise.”
Scream star
Rose Mcgowan, 44, also hit out at the actor, telling him to
“f*** off” after he said he was “saddened and angry” about Weinstein’s alleged sexual abuse.
She suggested the Gone Girl star had known about the film producer’s behaviour for years. Mcgowan claimed on Twitter she told Affleck in 1998 that she had been a victim and he replied: “Goddamnit! I told him to stop doing that.” She added: “You said that to my face... You lie.” Affleck’s Hollywood career was kickstarted when Weinstein backed his screenplay for Good Will Hunting.
