GAA post­pone All Ire­land Fi­nal over clash with Pope Mass

The All-ire­land foot­ball fi­nal, tra­di­tion­ally held on the third Sun­day in Septem­ber, is ex­pected to re­vert to a new slot in Au­gust 2019. Pope Fran­cis chose Dublin to host the next World Meet­ing of Fam­i­lies in the week of Au­gust 21 to 26.

It is al­most cer­tain Croke Park will hold one of the many events on the fi­nal day. It also emerged that thou­sands of vol­un­teers are needed for the visit but they will be Gar­dav­et­ted amid se­cu­rity con­cerns.

The Catholic Church has launched a re­cruit­ment drive for 3,000 helpers.
