Tragedy of girl’s photo leap on cliffs

- BY LOUIE SMITH

A STUDENT plunged to her death after leaping in the air for a cliff-top photo.

South Korean Hyewon Kim, 23, asked a stranger to take her picture at the Seven Sisters cliffs near Eastbourne, East Sussex.

But as she jumped for the shot she lost her footing and fell 200ft.

Large sections of the cliffs have collapsed into the sea in recent months.

Signs on nearby paths warn of the instability.

But in July the council rejected a move to install more signs in foreign languages, claiming they would confuse matters.

After the Eastbourne inquest, fire service spokesman Mark Webb said “This was an incredibly sad incident leading to the loss of a young life.”

Verdict: Misadventure.
