3 arrests over crash ‘murder’
Probe after Natasha, 23, killed in collision
TWO men and a woman have been arrested by police investigating the death of a young mum in a car crash.
Natasha Carruthers, 23, was killed in a collision near Derrylin, Co Fermanagh, on Saturday night which is now being treated as murder by cops.
A 40-year-old man was detained in the nearby village of Maguiresbridge on Wednesday and another male, aged 20, was held in the same area yesterday.
Last night a 20-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
DCI Eamonn Corrigan said: “At this time we believe a second vehicle was involved in the collision that cost Natasha her life and our inquiries to date have led us to conclude the collision should now be regarded as murder.
“We continue to appeal to anyone who was in the Newbridge Road area of Derrylin between 11pm and midnight on Saturday, October 7. Did you see the car Natasha was travelling in – a blue Corsa registration TLZ 8330?
“Or did you see any other vehicles travelling at speed on the route at around the time of the crash?
“We would also like anyone with dashcam footage that could help the investigation to please get in touch.”
The victim was the mother of a one-year-old girl. Her cousin Diane Doogan said: “Tasha was like myself, she had a wild side. She was outgoing, fun and unique.
“She was a family girl and lived for her baby girl.
“She’d a heart of gold and she will never be forgotten.
“She’ll live on in our family’s hearts forever.”
Sinn Fein councillor Barry Doherty added. “One family is suffering the pain of finality, a life ripped from them without the opportunity for goodbyes or affirmations of love.”
