Dad’s tribute to son shot dead in Canada
THE father of a Northern Irish man shot dead in Canada has paid tribute to his son.
Tyler Mclean, 25, died alongside pal Amir Jamal after an altercation outside a Toronto nightclub on October 1.
Mr Mclean’s dad Hugh, who runs Eversafe Technologies in Newry, Co Down, said: “He was a wonderful fella. So kind and caring.
“We are devastated. We went to Toronto and we had a memorial service for Tyler on Saturday and over 400 friends of his and relatives came and it was a great service.” Speaking to the Irish News, Mr Mclean added: “He was a great son and a great brother.
“We are shocked and just distraught. We thought Toronto was a safe city.”
The victim, who worked as a nightclub promoter, had been due to travel to Northern Ireland to start a new job in his father’s business the day after his killing. Two men have reportedly been charged with seconddegree murder.
