Bid to keep Victoria bust

-

A TEMPORARY export ban has been placed on a marble bust of Queen Victoria in the hope a buyer can come forward with the £1.45million needed to keep it here.

The statue was made in 1887 to celebrate the monarch’s jubilee by sculptor Alfred Gilbert for the Army and Navy Club in London which is selling it.

Arts Minister John Glen said: “This likeness showcases the extraordinary skills of Alfred Gilbert.”
