Heroes’ cash rake-off blast

ARMED forces veterans’ charities have been blasted for how they raise cash.

The Charity Commission had fierce criticism over fundraising firms taking a cut of donations.

Most charities started in the past 10 years had oversight “weaknesses”, it said.

Boss Michelle Russell urged donors to consider: “Are you giving direct or is a company taking a cut?”

The Mirror revealed last year how Afghan Heroes, now closed, spent just 3% of donations on veterans.
