Extra fingers come in handy

IF you’re all fingers and thumbs on the piano, spare a thought for Maria De Silva – whose family were all born with a dozen fingers and toes each.

But they say the condition, called polydactyly, puts the world at their fingertips. Young Maria says: “I can play more keys on the piano.” Goalkeeper cousin Joao adds: “I have more grip so it’s difficult for the ball to escape.”
