IBROX ACE HOLT SAYS FINAL’S ON THE MENU

- BY GAVIN BERRY

JASON HOLT is desperate to make up for the pain of last season’s two semifinal defeats by helping Rangers reach this year’s Betfred cup final.

The Light Blues lost to bitter rivals Celtic in both of their last-four clashes last season.

Now the 24-year-old – who returned to the fold in place of the suspended Ryan Jack in Friday’s 3-0 win at St Johnstone – is keen to go one better.

Rangers face Motherwell at the National Stadium on Sunday for a place in the first domestic final of the season.

The Steelmen have been going well lately but Rangers won 2-1 at Fir Park on the opening day this term and

Holt (above) insists they are muchimproved since then.

Asked if success on Sunday would help make up for last season he said: “That would be great as the target over the past couple of seasons has been to get our hands on a piece of silverware.

“We know it will be a difficult game and a great occasion but we are now playing better than when we won on the opening day of the season at Fir Park. We’ve been working hard and aim to show how we have come on as a team in the semi-final.

“We want to get some momentum going because it stands you in good stead if you get that as it will in turn generate a really good vibe about the place.”
