GOLDEN GIRL

Late maturing filly can strike motherlode for Bolger

- BY CHRIS BEECH

GOLDRUSH is a confident selection to maintain her unbeaten run in the listed Cooley Stakes at Dundalk tonight. She is bred to be very special and she won her maiden decisively at Navan and followed that up with success in a listed race here the last day.

She has a poor draw to overcome, but the daughter of Frankel and multiple group 1 winner Alexander Goldrun, is clearly on the up and she is open to any amount of improvement.

Jim Bolger is a master with this late maturing type and his filly can win here en-route to much better things.

The rest of the card looks tricky, but the mile maiden can go to

Night Of

Power.

The John Oxx trained runner has had just the two starts to date and has run with credit on both occasions and is improving.

He has yet to encounter this surface, but he has a nice draw and Oxx has a good record with his juveniles at this venue and he posted a fine effort at Naas when second to a potentially smart colt.

He has a good draw tonight and is taken to beat Harvestforthemoon, which posted a fine effort when runner-up on his debut here a fortnight ago.

That was a decent showing, and he will win races, but he may again have to settle for a minor role again today.

Miss Snossyboots can credit Pat Smullen, left, with a vital winner in the first division of the mile handicap for Michael Halford and he might also win the preceding six furlong handicap with recent Wolverhampton winner Ahundrednotout.

The latter is a huge horse, and was rated just 50 when all the way winner of the maiden on that occasion and has to cope with a 15lb penalty tonight, but he is lightly raced and has more scope to improve than most of his rivals and he can beat recent winner Red All Star.
