If you’re gearing up for a frenzy of holiday gift buying during the next few weeks, then this is an app that should be right there on your home screen. Maiden City music fans have an outstanding weekend of live music ahead of them – with three of the best acts from Derry City playing hometown shows all in a row. Tonight Saint Sister – one half of which is Gemma Doherty from the city – play the Guildhall. Their unique take on atmospheric folk music – performed on synths and harp – has gathered a huge following, especially in the south, where they’re a sellout act – and have played the likes of Longitude and Electric Picnic. Tomorrow night it’s Our Krypton Son at The Guildhall. His recent release ‘Fleas & Diamonds’ is an album of the year, for sure. They play alongside Dublin legend David Ki Then – on Sunday – it’s Ports at the same venue. While we’ve not had new music in a while – my copy of ‘The Devil is a Songbird’ still getting hammered. They play alongside Joshua Burnside. Three absolute belters.
