FERGIE: IT’S GOT TO BE A BLUEMAN

-

to be right. It has to be someone who knows the Scottish game, what the club is all about and the expectation levels and demands that come with being at a club like Rangers.

“Rangers don’t change managers a lot but two foreign managers - Paul Le Guen and Pedro Caixinha lasted a similarly short time.

“I can understand some people want to go left field. I’ve heard Sam Allardyce’s name mentioned for example.

“I don’t doubt he’s a great manager but I want someone with connections with the club, who knows what it’s all about and has Rangers at heart.

“I want people with blue blood running through their veins right throughout the club - not just in the manager and that’s what is missing at Rangers.”

Caixinha was bulleted having failed to string three wins together during his time in charge.

He also become embroiled in a series of high-profile bust-ups with some of his own players most notably Kenny Miller.

And another former

Gers star, striker Kris Boyd, believes Caixinha’s treatment of the longer serving players was a major contributory factor to to his demise.

Boyd said: “When you bring in players then they need to be better than the ones that were already there.

“The treatment of the players that were there, Kenny Miller, Lee Wallace and Niko Kranjcar who was told not to appear near Ibrox before the Kilmarnock game, that is not Rangers.

“That is definitely not the way to behave as a Rangers manager.

“I didn’t feel that he was the man to take the club forward.”
