£800k to seal deal for Derek

- BY CRAIG SWAN BY KEITH JACKSON

RANGERS can land top target Derek Mcinnes and right hand man Tony Docherty for just £800,000 in compensation.

That was the combined fee which Sunderland agreed to pay in the summer before Mcinnes turned down the opportunity to take over from Davie Moyes in the hotseat at the Stadium of Light.

And, although he subsequently put pen to paper on a bumper new contract at Pittodrie, the new deal contains the same release trigger.

But, as yet, there is no indication the Rangers board have initiated contact with Aberdeen chairman Stewart Milne.

It’s understood the Ibrox club’s director of football Mark Allen has been tasked with drawing up a shortlist of targets and presenting it to the board.

But it’s now likely stand-in boss Graeme

Murty will stay in charge for tomorrow’s visit of Partick.

Murty will have midfielder Ryan Jack available after the midfielder yesterday had a red card rescinded for the second time this season.

An SFA fast-track hearing has overturned Jack’s dismissal for his clash with Kilmarnock defender Kirk Broadfoot and he is now free to face Partick Thistle tomorrow.

The former Aberdeen sta saw red in the recent 1-1 draw at Ibrox.

Jack appered to push, knee then move his head towards Broadfoot. Ref

Alan Muir initially awarded a yellow card, but changed it to red after being alerted by the fourth official.

Jack, who also had a red card against Hibs overturned on appeal, was dismissed for violent conduct seconds before Daniel Candeias missed a penalty and the Light Blues conceded a stoppage-time equaliser that ended Pedro Ciaxinha’s reign.
