Top Cats next in line for Dub champs Cuala

- BY PAT NOLAN

CUALA put their Leinster and All-ireland titles on the line tomorrow as Kilkenny champions Dicksboro come to Parnell Park.

Having retained their Dublin title last weekend (above), the Dalkey outfit are looking to become the first club since Ballyhale Shamrocks in 2009 to retain the Leinster title.

In each of the last two years they have made reasonably light work of Kilkenny’s representatives having beaten Clara and O’loughlin Gaels comfortably and Dicksboro, having won their first county title in 24 years just last Sunday, will have it all to do.

Four of the six sides in Leinster quarter-final action tomorrow have won the provincial title in the past and two-time winners Camross face 2013 champions Mount Leinster Rangers.

2012 winners Kilcormac/killoughey from Offaly should have too much for Westmeath’s Castletown-geoghegan.

The semi-finals are down for decision in Munster, with Ballygunnersixmilebridge the eye-catching clash but the Waterford men have home advantage and real momentum.

Blackrock are Cork representatives despite losing the county final, with divisional side Imokilly not permitted to play in Munster but will struggle improve on Cork clubs’ dismal recent record in provincial against 2016 All-ireland champions Na Piarsaigh.

There’s football action today in the Connacht quarter-final at Machale Park where Castlebar Mitchels should progress against Mohill of Leitrim.
