We’re ready to turn it on after Oz loss

- JAMIE PEACOCK

TODAY’S match against Lebanon is all about focusing on ourselves and what we can do to kick on from the opening game against Australia.

The lads showed a hell of a lot of resilience in that match despite the defeat.

We probably beat ourselves in the first half with three or four errors that meant we lost the energy battle, and that’s when they scored two tries.

With losing Sam Burgess to injury as well, there was a lot of adversity to deal with but we had the resolve not to break and kept going at Australia.

The grit, resolve and determination shown by the side in the second half is a great platform to build on for the rest of the World Cup.

The things we can improve on, we’re in control of – our own execution, discipline with the ball and ability to build pressure.

We were disappointed to lose, but the performance wasn’t too far away from being a winning one.

Now we have a chance to put further things in place for how we want to play in the coming weeks.

It’s great to see Lebanon in the tournament – they’ve got a couple of big name NRL players in Mitchell Moses and Robbie Farah.

They’ve also got lads in the side who are part-time and will just be enjoying their time on a World Cup stage.

They will certainly provide a challenge for us – we saw glimpses of what they can do when they beat France in their opening game.

But for us it’s all about England and taking the next step on what we hope is a successful World Cup journey.
