TIGHTEN IT UP AT THE BAX
Ards 2 Crusaders 4 BY CARL KENNEDY
CRUSADERS are on a goal scoring streak but boss Stephen Baxter has one eye on his defence.
Saturday’s comfortable 4-2 win at Ards made it five wins – and 17 goals – in all competitions since a 3-2 loss at home to
Glenavon three weeks ago.
Gavin Whyte bagged a brace and Paul Heatley lobbed Sam
Johnston to put the
Crues in control, before Keke pulled it back to 3-1 in the 91st minute.
Two goals in two minutes – the first a rifled effort from Crues sub David Cushley, the second from Ards midfielder Kyle Cherry – completed the scoring in a frantic finish.
Baxter said: “We’re always very capable of scoring goals, but I’d like to see us also tighten things up a wee bit. The last two or three minutes we switched off which is a hair disappointing, but at the same time it won’t take the gloss off an excellent performance.”
Elsewhere, LINFIELD put their recent stuttering form behind them with a 6-0 win over struggling
Park.
Andy Waterworth and Mark Haughey both bagged a brace and Jordan Stewart and Kirk Millar were also on target for the Blues who lost Josh Robinson to a 43rd minute red card.
A Joe Gormley (inset) double and a late solo goal from Daniel Hughes eased CLIFTONVILLE to a 3-0 win over CARRICK, while DUNGANNON SWIFTS
secured a 2-1 win at
WARRENPOINT thanks to strikes from Ryan Mayse and Kris Lowe.
