Furious family says suicide politician was denied justice
THE politician who killed himself after being sacked amid harassment allegations was denied “natural justice”, his angry family has said.
Married father-of-two Carl Sargeant, right, was accused of “unwanted attention, inappropriate touching or groping”, but relatives
said he had not been told details. The former Welsh Communities Secretary was found dead on Tuesday after being suspended by Labour. Mr Sargeant’s family said he was distressed at being unable to defend himself.
The Alyn and Deeside Assembly Member, sacked by First Minister Carwyn Jones on Friday, took his own life four days later. The Tories called on Mr Jones to resign. Mr Sargeant’s family said: “Carl categorically denied any wrongdoing.”
International Trade Minister Mark Garnier has apologised to constituents after claims he asked his secretary to buy sex toys and called her “sugar t*ts”.
