£175k boost to fund five new lifeboats
FIVE new lifeboats will soon be launched across Northern Ireland thanks to £175,000 windfall.
The cash from the UK’S Inshore and Inland Rescue Boat Grant Fund will help shore up four volunteer operations.
Community Rescue and teams based at Foyle, Lagan and Lough Neagh are all to benefit.
The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs yesterday welcomed the money.
A spokesman said: “The funding will support volunteers who risk their own safety to protect the lives of others,
“This money means our Northern Ireland rescue charities can purchase essential lifesaving equipment.”
