Teen killed by ski lift mishap

A SCHOOLBOY died when his backpack straps got caught in a ski lift in the Alps, an inquest heard.

Kieran Brookes, 14, was strangled after he was left dangling 50ft in the air.

Teacher Charlotte Pittocho said no one in Chatel, France, told them to take off their backpacks.

Kieran, of Bovey Tracey, Devon, was on a trip with Torquay Grammar School.

He suffered a severe brain injury and died a month later in 2011. The Exeter inquest continues.
