Ex-big Issue seller studies at Cambridge

- BY JASMINE WATKISS

A FORMER homeless Big Issue seller has won a place at Cambridge.

Geoff Edwards, 52, who achieved only two O-levels at school, said: “It is the first thing I am proud of in my life. I’m still getting used to the idea.”

He added: “Going to Cambridge University was a dream of mine.”

The ex-labourer turned his life around and passed a higher education course at a regional college in Cambridge, where he used to sell the magazine.

Geoff, who will study English literature, said: “I didn’t think Cambridge would take someone like me but my tutor encouraged me to apply.”

The university said: “The gates of Cambridge are open to all who have the potential to succeed.” THIS gentle giant’s cute underbite makes her look just like the Gruffalo monster.

Dogue de Bordeaux Maddie’s canines point up like the tusks of the kids’ book creature.

Maddie needs a new home, but is now being fostered by Dawn Hughes, 34, of Birkenhead, Merseyside, who said: “She is adorable.”
