‘Stalker kill preventable’

A WOMAN’S murder by her “stalker” was preventable, a court heard.

Mary Griffiths, 38, was shot by John Mcfarlane in Bury St Edmunds in 2009, just hours after she called police to say he scared her.

It was also just days after Suffolk Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust decided not to detain him.

Her family are suing and their barrister said: “The murder was preventable.”

Suffolk Police and the trust deny the claims. The High Court case continues.
