Wine clue to ‘youth elixir’
AN anti-ageing pill based on red wine that prevents heart disease, cancer and dementia could be here within the next decade.
British scientists have made old cells “young” again in the lab with chemicals found in the drink.
Synthetic versions of resveratrol – found in red grapes – target “senescent” cells that stop dividing and trigger disease over time.
Dr Eva Latorre, of the University of Exeter, said: “When I saw cells rejuvenating it was like magic.”
