WALES MUST BRING THE SPIRIT OF 2008

- BY ALEX BYWATER

WALES have been urged to summon the spirit of 2008 in a bid to break their Australian curse.

Warren Gatland’s side have lost their last 12 games to the Wallabies and face the men in Green and

Gold in Cardiff on

Saturday.

Former Wales full-back Lee Byrne (above), who produced a man-of-thematch performance and scored a try in Wales’ last win – 21-18 in November 2008 – believes Gatland’s (above) men can finally claim a famous win.

Byrne said: “The key thing was confidence. We went into the 2008 Tests on the back of winning that year’s Six Nations and we had a huge amount of self-belief.

“There’s no use Wales going into Saturday without believing they can win. We thought that in 2008 and look what happened.”

Injured Rhys Webb and Justin Tipuric miss out.
