NIC’S PAIN IS NO BARRIER

- BY PAUL O’HEHIR

NICOLAI JORGENSEN is ready to play through the pain barrier for Denmark.

The Feyenoord striker fractured his wrist playing for his club on Sunday and was considered a major doubt to face Ireland.

But he has been fitted with a protective cast that meets FIFA standards and is poised to start in Copenhagen.

Sporting a clunkier makeshift cast, Jorgensen trained on his own yesterday and said: “I’m having a new one made which will be carbon fibre, so I can play.

“I’ll get the new cast on and hopefully I can train (today).”

Recalling the incident in the 2-2 draw with Den Haag, Jorgensen said: “I knew it had happened as I heard the crack.

“I’ll be 100 per cent for Saturday.”
