Wat a way of giving

DUNCAN WATMORE has signed up to Juan Mata’s initiative and agreed to donate one per cent of his salary to charity.

Sunderland striker Watmore is the first Championship player to join Mata’s Common Goal.

But other footballers already involved include Bayern Munich’s Mats Hummels and Giorgio Chiellini of Juventus.

Watmore, 23, said: “I have always donated to charities, but this is one way of formalising it.

“For me, the main area I would like to go down is to link in with my education – I was lucky enough to get my degree.”
