NO MARGIN FOR ERROR

-

JAMIE WARD is eager Northern Ireland aren’t laid low by a bout of yellow fever as they bid to leave the Swiss sweating on their World Cup prospects in Belfast.

No fewer than eight of Michael

O’neill’s squad are a booking away from missing the second leg in

Basel.

Ward, skipper Steven Davis, Jonny

Evans, Ollie Norwood, Corry Evans,

Stuart Dallas, Josh Magennis, Paddy Mcnair (inset) and Chris Brunt will all walk a disciplinary tightrope this evening.

But equally Ward - who returns to the squad after missing the second half of the campaign through injury - knows the men in green can’t afford to take their foot off the pedal.

The Nottingham Forest winger said: “It’s 180 minutes and we’ve got to do what’s right.

“If there’s a tackle to be made and you think you can get there, you’ve got to go for it.

“If you don’t tough luck, it’s just one of those things. I’m on a yellow card but what will be will be and hopefully it doesn’t impact the team too much.”
