Labour AM Jenny Rath­bone said: “If al­le­ga­tions are made against you, you must know what they are so you can re­spond to them. That doesn’t ap­pear to have hap­pened.”

It has since emerged ex-com­mu­ni­ties and Chil­dren’s Sec­re­tary Mr Sargeant faced claims of “un­wanted at­ten­tion, touch­ing or grop­ing”.

It comes as Tory MP Char­lie El­ph­icke, sus­pended over “se­ri­ous al­le­ga­tions” says he still does not know what he is ac­cused of. He de­nies any “crim­i­nal wrong­do­ing”.
