£13k hotel bill for boat Tory

A TORY MP who boasted of shivering in a sleeping bag on his boat to save taxpayers’ cash claimed £13,000 in hotel bills.

Johnny Mercer paid £2,400 a year to berth his cruiser in London Dockland because of “shocking” rents and said cold nights made him buy a heater and use an old army sleeping bag instead of a duvet.

But expenses data reveals the Plymouth MP claimed £12,814 in London hotel bills at public expense in 2016/17.
