O’hara in 8-match abuse ban

- BY CHRIS BEECH

FALKIRK striker Kevin O’hara has been hit with a massive eight-game ban for abusing Dunfermline’s Northern Irish star Dean Shiels over his missing eye.

The 19-year-old yesterday appeared before an SFA disciplinary tribunal at Hampden charged with excessive misconduct in an ill-tempered clash between the clubs in the Irn-bru Cup last month.

O’hara attended the hearing in person, with Falkirk chairman Margaret Lang, a lawyer, and technical director Alex Smith, who was interim manager for the game in question.

The teenager accepted the charge but Falkirk may decide to appeal the severity of the suspension and have asked for the judgment in writing to consider their next step.

Team-mate Joe Mckee faces the same allegations and will have his case heard on Thursday when it is thought he will contest the case against him.

A Falkirk spokesman said: “The club have now requested the written reasons for the decision. No further comment will be made at this time.”
