Witness calls Kingsmill link inconceivable
CLAIMS a British soldier could have been at the Kingsmill massacre are “inconceivable”, a court was told yesterday.
There have been rumours Captain Robert Nairac was at the scene of the 1976 attack, in which 10 Protestant workmen were gunned down.
The sole survivor of the South Armagh atrocity, Alan Black testified he heard an attacker speaking with an English accent.
However, a witness told an inquest at Laganside Court that Capt Nairac, who was later killed by the IRA, couldn’t have been at the scene.
Colonel Marcus Simpson said: “For me, it is inconceivable he could have engaged in any other significant activity.”
