No leads as OTR probes ‘completed’
INVESTIGATIONS into nine republicans who were part of an On The Run letters scheme have been “completed”.
The contentious peace process strategy saw letters sent to some republicans informing them they were not being sought by authorities in the UK.
The PSNI said: “The involvement of OTR nominal(s) in an incident has been examined. There are no opportunities to progress the investigation.”
The review was sparked by John Downey mistakenly receiving a letter and using it to escape prosecution for the IRA’S Hyde Park bombing of 1982.
