The first episode of Sir David Attenborough’s Blue Planet II has become the most-watched TV programme of the year, attracting 14.1 million viewers. Isn’t it astonishing we love nothing better than cameramen plumbing the darkest depths so we can observe sharks, piranhas, plankton, sponges, urchins and bottomfeeders? Yet when they show them on The Apprentice the audience drops by two-thirds?
