Pope stubs out cig sales
THE Pope has banned staff buying cigarettes in the Vatican – one of the few vices they were allowed.
Workers could purchase up to five packets a month at a much cheaper price than in the rest of Italy.
But Pope Francis put a stop to that on health grounds. His spokesman Greg Burke said: “The Holy See cannot contribute to an activity that damages the health of people.
“Although the cigarettes sold in the Vatican are a source of revenue, no profit can be legitimate if it puts lives at risk.”
