Diana paints own Sistine Chapel at flat
A PENSIONER has spent 40 years hand-painting her version of the Sistine Chapel in her council flat.
Now Diana Keys, 70, is keen to show off the walls and ceilings she has transformed with cherubs and fairytale scenes.
She explained: “I want to share my work because I don’t know how much longer I will be alive.
“When I eventually go to heaven, the council will paint over it with magnolia.
“I have never seen the Sistine Chapel but I wanted it to be a bit like that.”
Diana started redecorating her home in Hemel Hempstead, Herts, during the late 1970s, putting paint on her fingers before rubbing it on to the walls.
She added: “There is some religious meaning as I am very spiritual.”
