Seizures of homes rise

-

The number of families having their homes repossessed has risen for the first time in three-and-a-half years.

Nearly 1,900 properties were seized by lenders between July and September, said banking trade body UK Finance. That was up from 1,800 in the previous quarter – the first rise since 2014 – but the same as in the first three months of the year.

However, repossessions of buy-to-let properties fell.

Meanwhile, the number of county court judgments against people in England and Wales jumped between July and September according to figures collated by Registry Trust.

Some 317,793 CCJS were registered over that period, up 24% year on year.
